It is with immense regret that we inform you of the passing of Lil' Dave Thompson at 7am this morning as the result of an automobile accident outside of Augusta, Georgia, while touring with his band. It is with great sadness that I am sending this email to you all today. Lil' Dave Thompson was killed in a car accident early this morning, Sunday, February 14, 2010. He was travelling home after playing the Blues Bash at Fiery Ron's in Charleston, SC on his final day of a very succesful tour. The band was driving toward Greenville, MS when the van struck a hole in the road, veered into gravel and lost control. Lil' Dave will be greatly missed by me personally. It has been an honor and blessing to represent such a genuine talent and wonderful person.

More information will be posted here with regard to a relief fund to support his family and plans for funeral services once they are arranged.

With sincere sympathy to the many friends, family and fans of Lil' Dave Thompson....we will all miss his exceptional music!

April 2009

Spring is in the air and that can only mean that the rubber is about to meet the road for Delta Guitar Ace Lil' Dave Thompson and his ultra-tight band Big Love. You would be hard pressed to find a harder working Bluesman than Lil' Dave these days, Dave will be spending most of the month of May bringing his incendiary brand of Blues Guitar to Blues music lovers on the West Coast, before launching into a busy Summer Festival season in June with a featured spot at this years Chicago Blues Festival.

Other Festivals Lil' Dave will be performing at include the first Annual Vermont Blues Festival produced by Michael Cloeren of the legendary Pocono Blues Festival, where Lil' Dave tore up the stage and brought down the house last year. The Highway 61, Reno Tahoe and Hot August Blues Festivals are also on Dave's schedule, as well as many of the more popular Blues Clubs from coast to coast. If you love Blues Music don't miss Lil' Dave Thompson and Big Love when they come to your town.

Praise continues to roll in for "DEEP IN THE NIGHT" Lil' Dave's recent album on Electro-Fi Records. Rave reviews have been the order of the day both in North America (Blues Revue and Living Blues) as well as in Europe ( Soul Bag, Blues & Rhythm and ABS magazine). The CD also charted Top 5 on XM Radio's Bluesville Radio Show hosted by Bill Wax.This CD as well as Dave's earlier Electro-Fi release "GOT TO GET OVER YOU" are available directly from Dave at his dynamic live shows, where he'll be happy to autograph them for you, or through the Electro-Fi website www.electrofi.com . Both of the CD's are also available at itunes worldwide.

Hot Rumour Dept. Look for a red hot "Live" album from Lil' Dave Thompson in 2010.

August 2008

Here's some great news for fans and friends of Lil' Dave Thompson, Dave's brand new Electro-Fi CD "Deep In The Night" (EFI 3408) hits the streets Oct.21/08. If you can't wait until then, and why should you? This dynamic disc will be available directly from Lil' Dave at his live performances and direct from Electro-Fi Records at www.electrofi.com.

I know Dave's extremely proud of “Deep In The Night” as it features 10 original Blues from him, 3 with a horn section. Lil' Dave and the band have been touring virtually non-stop since the release of his Electro-Fi debut "Got To Get Over You" back in 2006 and all that roadwork has paid off big time. Lil' Dave’s vocals, guitar work and song writing skills have hit a new peak on "Deep In The Night". Recorded Dec.13/07 in Toronto, Canada and Feb. 21/08 in Cleveland, MS. Produced by Lil' Dave with Alec Fraser and myself, this new album confirms to me without a doubt that Lil’ Dave Thompson is the best Mississippi guitarist under 40 on the Blues Scene today.

"Lil' Dave’s the kind of player you just sit back and listen to, he dazzles on every track never seeming to repeat a lick". – BLUESWAX

Festivals, Festivals and More Festivals:

Lil' Dave is in full Road Warrior mode and this Summer he was working his magic on more Festival stages than ever before. Eureka Springs, Five Mile, Highway 61, North Atlantic, Ottawa and Poconos were all stops on the Blues Highway that Lil Dave travels. I had the real pleasure of catching Dave headline the Friday night show at the Poconos Festival, always a cool combination to see one of your favourite artists at one of your favourite Blues Festivals, and I’m here to tell you Lil' Dave did not disappoint. He played an inspired and memorable show that kicked the Festival off into high gear. Don't miss Lil' Dave when he plays your town, it'll be a night of music that you’ll long remember.

Lil Dave Featured in Downbeat Magazine

Be sure to check out Alex Cook's excellent full page profile on Lil' Dave in the July 08 issue of the venerable bible of Jazz and Blues DOWNBEAT magazine. Here’s a quote from the article "Lil' Dave's songs move with a Church Choir Hustle and a Hill Country Blues Stomp, loaded with Incendiary Guitar Licks that recall a more feral Robert Cray".

January 2007

Lil' Dave Thompson's Electro-Fi debut "Got To Get Over You" continues to make friends, influence people and create an all around buzz in the Blues World. November 2006

I'd like to welcome you to my site, some of you may know me from my Fat Possum and JSP CDÕs or when I toured with Booba Barnes, R.L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough.

I'm happy to tell you I have a brand new CD out on Electro-Fi Records which is getting great reviews, and I'm now out touring extensively with my super tight band in both the U.S. and Europe.

I'm keeping busy writing a lot of new material and will be recording again in 2007, for a great night of high intensity Mississippi Blues come on out and see us next time we are in your town.
